A new resort in Khao Lak has opened its doors. Grand Mercure Khao Lak Bangsak offers travelers a calm and authentic beach escape on Thailand’s scenic Andaman Coast. It is located in Phang Nga province and combines Southern Thai heritage with modern comforts. As a result, guests can enjoy a peaceful and tropical stay.
The resort is inspired by traditional riverside living. A gentle canal flows through the property, connecting rooms with gardens, restaurants, and leisure spaces. Moreover, palm trees and lush greenery create a soothing retreat-like atmosphere. Guests feel close to nature from the moment they arrive.
This new resort in Khao Lak reflects the charm and cultural heritage of Southern Thailand. Each of the 195 rooms and suites has a private terrace with views of the canal, pool, or gardens. Guests can choose from several room types, making it ideal for couples, families, and solo travelers.
In addition, the resort blends traditional Thai design with modern amenities. It offers both comfort and an authentic sense of place.
Garth Simmons, CEO of Accor Southeast Asia, Japan & South Korea, shared:
“Grand Mercure revisits the uniqueness of each destination with a fresh cultural perspective. This new address is deeply rooted in Thai culture, reflected through its design, dining, and guest experiences.”
Guests can enjoy three dining venues. Patio, the all-day restaurant, serves Asian and international dishes with live cooking stations. Meanwhile, Green Mango, the beachfront restaurant, offers authentic Southern Thai recipes passed down through generations.
To honor local tradition, signature dishes are served in pinto—a Thai tiffin box once used for temple offerings and family meals. For casual drinks and snacks, guests can also visit Soak Pool Bar. It is the perfect spot to relax by the water.
Guests can unwind in two scenic swimming pools—one surrounded by gardens and another with ocean views. Families will love the Kids Corner and the children’s splash pool.
Furthermore, wellness seekers can rejuvenate at Pran Spa. Treatments use locally sourced ingredients and traditional healing techniques. For example, the Energy Recharge therapy combines warm Himalayan salt compresses with aromatherapy using grapefruit, ginger, and clove oils. It helps relieve stress and restore energy levels.
Additionally, the resort has a modern fitness center and tailored wellness programs for guests who want to stay active.
This new resort in Khao Lak also caters to business travelers. A 260-square-meter meeting room can host up to 100 guests for conferences, team-building events, or private gatherings. Moreover, a Business Corner is available with computers, printers, and essential services for remote work.
The resort is less than two hours from Phuket International Airport and close to many attractions, including:
Bang Niang Market
Elephant Rehabilitation and Retirement Home
Takua Pa Old Town
Ton Chong Fah Waterfall
Khao Lak Lam Ru National Park
Elephant Fly Zipline
For adventure seekers, the Similan Islands—famous for scuba diving and snorkeling—are only 90 minutes away by speedboat.
Paulray Smith, General Manager, says:
“Khao Lak is one of Thailand’s most peaceful destinations. Our resort celebrates the local way of life with authentic dining, wellness, and cultural experiences. It’s the perfect base to explore the Andaman coastline, and we look forward to welcoming guests to discover our unique interpretation of Thai culture.”
